Picture to Page 2008

Posted in Picture to Page at 5:22 am by Michelle Grech

Myself and some other Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators will be attending the Picture to Page show in Burwood this year. Those of you who went last year may remember the fantastic display and make and take table. I certainly do because that’s when I was first introduced to Stampin’ Up and decided shortly after to become a demonstrator.

The Picture to Page organisers will be running their usual hourly prize draws throughout the weekend for some great scrapbooking and stamping gifts donated by stall holders.

We will have the new 2008-2009 Idea Book and Catalogue available from 1 April for the special price of $10 and 2 hourly draws for some great card packs as well as the make and take table.

So drop by and say hello and have a browse through the fantastic gallery of items on display and have a go at the make and take. I’ll look forward to seeing you there.

Easter Swap

Posted in Cards, Stampin’ Up!® tagged , , at 3:59 am by Michelle Grech

easter-swap-1.jpgSpent today winding down from a hectic Easter. We had my friend Kerri and her hubby stay with us over the break so we could work on our swaps for convention. The guys were really great, looking after the kids and making sure there was plenty of coffee while we stamped and chatted (non-stop). What a great way to spend Easter (I think the Easter Bunny made a visit in their somewhere). Suffice to say I didn’t get much of a chance to post which was a real shame because I had these great Easter cards I received in a swap which I really wanted to post before Easter was over.

Yes your right Easter is over but I’m still going to post the cards. Here they are.

2008-2009 Idea Book and Catalogue

Oh my gosh my 2008-2009 Idea Book and Catalogue has arrived and I haven’t stopped drooling. The tears over retired stamps from the old catty have totally dried up as I pour over all the fantastic new products. The new “In Colours’ are beautiful and very fruity, what else could they be with names like Groovy Guava, Wild Wasabi and Purely Pomegranate. I can honestly say that the scrapbookers amongst us will be over the moon with the rub-ons, textured cardstock, flowers and heaps of great ribbons.

Email me to grab yourself a copy or better still host a workshop or catalogue party and see the products first hand and get a catalogue for free.

Easter Basket

Posted in 3-D Projects, Stampin’ Up!® at 6:29 am by Michelle Grech

Easter is just around the corner and I really wanted to make some cards and stuff this year.  Then I realised that I didn’t have any easter stamps …..how could that possibly be?  Will definitely have to remedy that.  Then I remembered this great little basket that I saw demo’d just recently and a bunny made from Stampin’ Up! punches when I was trawling the blog of the very talented Cambria Turnbow.  So off I went to my stamping room and this is what I came up with.  easter-basket-edit-1.jpgDon’t ask me what the black spot is on the rabbit, must have been one of those dang bugs from the garden.  That’ll teach me to try and be artistic with my photos.

On three of the basket sides I used the dotted stems and flowers from the Simply Said set and coloured the flowers in with my Uniball Signio white gel pen.  I used the corner rounder with the guard removed to scallop the flaps and both sides of the handle.  Here’s a close up.

Where did the last week go

Posted in Cards at 5:37 am by Michelle Grech

Have you noticed the older you get the faster time seems to go. I remember as a child a week seemed like forever – long lazy days stretching in front of you with nothing much to do except play. Now they race by in a blur of kinder duty, school drop offs and pick-ups, housework (yuck) etc etc etc…. Where’s the time to play, to stamp, to scrapbook, to read or to just relax.

The last two weeks have just flown by. What with our trip to Adelaide with Matt’s work and then last weekend spent in Ballarat with my dear friend Kerri and her hubby I seem to have got so behind with everything, including posting to my blog.

I promised myself when I started this blogging thing that I wouldn’t be one of those people who started with a rush then quickly faded to nothing (or almost nothing). Now here we are not even two months later and I’m quickly becoming one of “those people”. So here I am promising again that I will post regularly. Hmmmmmm we’ll see!

Anyway back to my weekend in Ballarat or Miners Rest to be precise. I had a great time stamping with my friend Kerri. No sooner had I arrived there with Matt and kids in tow then I was off to the stamping room (or the BatCave as Matt refers to it) and I pretty much stayed there most of the weekend. Appearing only to eat and drink (wine mostly). Have to say though it was heaven – lots of stamps and stuff to play with plus the inspiration of a truly gifted stamper and friend.

We worked on some of our swaps for convention coming up in April. Ohhhh can’t wait. Spent lots of time speculating over what will be in the new catty in April then whining about having to wait and generally having a good ol time.

Here is one of the cards I made for the convention swap. I have to say that I’m not quite sure about it yet and it may not make the first cut, maybe it will grow on me.  More than likely it will be the one because it’s the night before convention and I haven’t had the time for anything else.

March Technique Class

Posted in Cards, Classes, Stampin’ Up!® at 9:40 am by Michelle Grech

Next week’s Technique Class will feature ” Faux Tiling”.  This is a great technique whereby your final product will look just like your kitchen tiles (well not exactly but close).  We will be making two cards using this technique and also a small surprise project for Easter.  If you would like to come along you are most welcome just send me an email to book your spot.  It’s on Monday night 17 March  7.30 – 9.30pm at my home.

Dragon Boat Racing

Posted in Uncategorized at 9:20 am by Michelle Grech

Each year around late February early March my partner’s work sends it’s employees away for the weekend.  This year’s trip was to Adelaide.  It’s such a fun weekend with lots of activities as well as some down time so that couples can re-charge and spend some quality time together.  We stayed at the Hyatt which was very nice indeed and close to the Casino (important for some).  There was lots to do with a whole lot of different festivals being celebrated that weekend.  The highlight of the weekend though had to be the Dragon Boat Racing.  Late Saturday morning the whole group boarded a bus out to Port Adelaide where we had a BBQ and then broke off into our allocated groups for some expert tuition in dragon boat racing.  This took some 3 hours on the water and was celebrated in the usual style with lots of sledging and splashing etc.  After our “training” we then had a best of 3 challenge.  The first race was not so great for our team, when we found ourselves still paddling backwards at the line when the starter called GO.  Much to say we finished last in that race.  The next race was an improvement with our team coming a well earned second.  By the end of the day we were all very sunburnt (despite hats and sunscreen) and feeling mighty sore.  But I have to say it was some of the best fun I’ve had in ages.  Here are a couple of photos from the day.
